S1 INVITE / REQUEST I have received an invite to upload documents and I don’t know what to do!
The owner of a technical file has asked your support. He needs the evidence such as test reports so he can sign off on the requirement list in the technical file for his product, possibly supplied by you. You can login into our system (first time you need to create an account – free of charge) and review his request. When you indeed have documents for him accept the request and upload the relevant documents (test reports, certificates, and other relevant materials). When done set the request to COMPLETED. Q What is ProductIP?
ProductIP is an internet expert system that tells you which requirements are applicable for a product when you want to sell that in the EU market. We have a database with requirements/standards/directives and work with a standard structure within the technical file as well as a standard way to share technical files. Before ProductIP it was one person sending e-mail, the other one was faxing and the next one sent a download link. Now all can use ProductIP as a standard.
Q Is ProductIP a sourcing site?
We are not a sourcing site. Your files belong to you and only you issue access rights to your file.
Q Do I need to install software?
You don’t need to install any software. ProductIP is an internet application and you have access to our services via internet, 24/7, no matter where you are.
Q How can ProductIP send large files, because I can not do that via my e-mail/VPN ?
ProductIP uses a different system to share files. We don’t send files to persons, we just share rights to see files. In fact you share rights to others to allow them to see files. This is not via e-mail, this is directly on the internet.
Q Can I share a part of a file?
ProductIP allows you to lable documents in the file that are kept hidden when you share the file.
Q How secure is ProductIP?
We use the best in the market to prevent unauthorized access to your data. We have our own servers, hosted by professionals in HongKong. Our site is secured by DigiCert, the identity is assured (see also our logo on the right hand side of the pages).
Q What is the price structure of ProductIP?
The investment is €30,00 to create 1 technical file by yourself (DIY Do It Yourself), which can cover a family of products. For this you can use our wizard to create the technical file and we will keep it available online for 10 years. An alternate is to use our File Assembly Support Team (FAST service) for which we charge 5 credits additionally. DIY+ is the in between model at which you are creating the file but all the advanced Q&A is done by your supplier. As we anticipate a substantial demand for training and support we charge 2 credits additionally for this model.
There are no subscription cost or annual fees involved. You can share the rights with others to view and/or copy your file via ProductIP without any further charge.
Q Is ProductIP a European or a Chinese company?
The ProductIP HQ is in The Netherlands. Our support office in Shenzhen managed by our Hong Kong staff. We offer our expertise and support via web, e-mail and telephone.
Q Can I upload more than one file at the time and what kind of file type can I upload?
The ProductIP system allows you to select and upload multiple files.
Q Can I upload documents in Chinese?
Of course you can upload a PDF in any language. You need to consider that your customer most likely can not read it. If you use English documents you have access to the total EU market.
Q What if I need many file credits and support?

Q What is the difference between ProductIP news alerts and other free subscriptions like those offered by others?
The ProductIP Alert Subscription will provide you with expert knowledge about technical and regulatory changes that affect the products you bring into the European Union market place and there is no commercial interest to offer any additional services. ProductIP uses experts (technical and regulatory) to translate published changes into regular language, including where possible indicating what steps to take to comply with those changes. Added value compared to commercial information. ProductIP will also provide free news, similar to what others do.
