Brand ”Sainteve” Inflatable swimming pool poses a chemical risk

Report by the RAPEX 2011 report 52, brand “Sainteve” Inflatable swimming pool “Crystal swimming pool” (Type/number of model: PT 4489 TOY 802469, SY-A1013, EAN: 6 933315 544898, CET No.: MT-SO503056) poses a chemical risk because it contains 9.5% by weight of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). There is a risk that phthalates may come into contact with the child’s mouth and/or skin.
According to the REACH Regulation, phthalates DEHP, DBP and BBP are prohibited in all toys and childcare articles, while phthalates DINP, DIDP and DNOP are prohibited when the toy or childcare article can be placed in the mouth by children.
Measures adopted by notifying country: Sales ban and withdrawal from the market ordered by the authorities.

Fireworks “Category F2 firework” poses burns and damage to hearing risks

Report by the RAPEX 2011 report 52, brand “Knock Out XXL” Fireworks “Category F2 firework” (Type/number of model: Knock Out XXL) poses burns and damage to hearing risks because:

The product poses a risk of damage to hearing because the flashover of the ignition is too fast and the start of the function is almost immediate therefore the protective distance of 8 metres cannot be observed.
The product poses a risk of burns because the 100-round firework rocket has two covered fuses instead of ignition cords (leading outwards).
The product does not comply with the Directive 2007/23/EC on pyrotechnic articles and the relevant European standard EN 15947.

Bicycles and Luggage carriers – CD 2011/786/EU || REQUIREMENTS

The European Standardisation Committee (CEN) has announced that European standards EN 14764:2005, EN 14766:2005, EN 14781:2005, and EN 14872:2006 will be revised. Per December 22/2011 compliance with the requirements of the commission CD 2011/786/EU related to the products covered by these standards, bicycles (excluding those covered by toys directive) and bicycles luggage carriers) assumes compliance with the General Product Safety Directive.

Brand “Salerm Cosmetics’” Stabiliser for cosmetic products pose chemical risk

Report by the RAPEX 2011 report 51, brand “Salem Cosmetics” stabilizer for cosmetic products  “Estabilizante 1:1” (Barcode: 8420282011174) poses a chemical risk because it contains 25% of formaldehyde and, in addition, it contains 10% methyl alcohol. The product does not comply with the Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EC.
