EU legislation requires the entity responsible for putting a product on the market, the importer or the owner of the brand, to have a technical file and a CE declaration of conformity. Technical files are required to show compliance with legal requirements and have to be accessible to the authorities for 10 years.
Production and development are being shifted to new manufacturing markets such as China. This introduces new challenges in the process of getting a product matching all commercial and legal requirements.
Now sourcing tasks are also being moved to the Far East. Communication over distance and time zones and language barriers is not easy.
