    The product contains methanol (measured value: 65.3 % by weight), which is acutely toxic to the central nervous system and to the eyes. Furthermore, the required hazard pictograms and warnings are missing. Users have therefore no information on the toxicity and flammability of the product. The packaging is not fitted with child-resistant fastening. Ingestion or contact with methanol may lead to blindness and death. The product does not comply with the Biocidal Products and the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulations.

  • The third product alert is for anotther hand disinfectant of the brand 'MIR 24' (Barcode: 4 820238 450066, Batch number: 27.04.2020, EXP04.2022). The country of origin is Ukraine. Link to product alert
    The product contains methanol (measured value: 68.7 % by weight), which is acutely toxic to the central nervous system and to the eyes. Furthermore, the required hazard pictograms and warnings are missing. Users have therefore no information on the toxicity and flammability of the product. The packaging is not fitted with child-resistant fastening. Ingestion or contact with methanol may lead to blindness and death. / The product does not comply with the Biocidal Products and the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulations.

    Due to its characteristic form, appearance and packaging, consumers, especially children and debilitated people, may mistake the product for foodstuff and therefore swallow the liquid. Moreover, the product's packaging does not have the appropriate warnings. Users have therefore no information on the toxicity of the product, which could lead to burns. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Food imitating products Directive

    The product contains an insufficient amount of ethanol (measured value: 43,3 % by weight). Consequently, it does not kill bacteria or viruses, which could then reach the user, increasing the risk of infection. Moreover, the presence of alcohols is not accompanied by the appropriate hazard pictograms and warnings. Users have therefore no information on the toxicity and flammability of the product, which in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire.     The product contains an insufficient amount of ethanol (measured values: 28,4% by weight). Consequently, it does not kill bacteria or viruses, which could then reach the user, increasing the risk of infection. Moreover, the presence of alcohols is not accompanied by the appropriate hazard pictograms and warnings. Users have therefore no information on the toxicity and flammability of the product, which in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire. Furthermore, the product contains the preservative methylisothiazolinone (MI) (0,0063%), which is forbidden in leave-on cosmetics. Dermal contact with MI-containing products can provoke allergic contact dermatitis to sensitised persons. Consequently, a user in close proximity to the product will receive an unsafe dose of UV radiation to the eyes or the skin, increasing the risk of burns or severe injuries to the eyes.
