What is happening with the RAPEX Notifications?

April 24th, 2017

The recent publication by the European Commission on the statistics of the RAPEX notifications (March 2017) show a substantial increase in the number of notifications in March, up 68% from the same month last year. The main contributor to this was Norway with 57 notifications followed by Denmark with 42 and Sweden with 35.

The weekly RAPEX notification list is a useful source of information for any company involved in manufacturing, retail or trade of non-food consumer goods. We look at the notifications and think; “What question has not been asked that could have prevented this?” and “Are we presenting our customer this question?”

You can access the notifications via http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/consumers_safety/safety_products/rapex/alerts/

Notifications of non-food consumer goods related to food contact are not on RAPEX but are published on the RASFF platform; accessible via https://ec.europa.eu/food/safety/rasff/portal_en
