EU energy labels help consumers choose energy efficient products. Dealers are therefore obliged to advertise their products with a visible energy label also when selling online. In addition, from 1 January 2019, suppliers must upload information about their products into the European Product Registration database for Energy Labelling: EPREL. Consumers will be able to search the EPREL database for energy labels and product information sheets as of the second quarter 2019.
Although this new regulation is scheduled for later this year, it appears now that the EPREL database already excluded the group luminaires.
There was much opposition from industry as they consider this new obligation as an additional burden. For instance the lighting industry asked for at least a delay because the updated regulation for the energy labelling of light sources would not require usage of the EPREL database.
