December 2024 deadline for the common charger is fast approaching.

For more than 10 years, there were many initiatives and efforts to realise the so-called “common charger”. It was one of the essential requirements for radio equipment from the start in 2014: interworking with accessories, and the common charger in particular was mentioned. The common charger has a universal connection to charge many electronic devices regardless of their brand, it is convenient for consumers and reduces waste. With the publication of Directive (EU) 2022/2380 at the end of 2022, the common charger with USB Type-C became a reality. The deadline of 28 December 2024 is approaching fast; except for laptops where the effective date is 28 April 2026.
