The product liability directive is intended to ensure consumer health and safety regarding products. In case of damage or injuries caused by a defective product, it is possible for the consumer to collect a compensation from any party who has been involved. In most cases, the consumer will hold the brand owner responsible for the damage.
Failure to meet this directive may result in restrictions with regards to selling the product.There may also be an administrative penalty imposed. In some cases there may even be a criminal fine or imprisonment sentence.
